ITW Shinemark is a manufacturer of foils, films and metallic/foil laminates mostly for the graphics industry and is part of the Illinois Tool Works Group, based in Chicago, USA. CLF Boxwise has provided packaging (including boxes, wrap and tape) alongside and a full stock and serve solution to ITW Shinemark and its group counterparts in and around the UK for more than ten years.
As good as a company is, there is always the driving ambition to be better. ITW Shinemark uses robotic machinery to pack its boxes and previously had to use plastic straps to keep these secure. However, ITW Shinemark felt the straps were not environmentally friendly and wanted to tackle this problem, without reducing quality and efficiency. They wanted a box which had locking tabs on it but was still strong enough to safely transport its products safely and effectively. They worked collaboratively with CLF Boxwise to find a solution.
After a series of trials lasting eight months, the perfect box was devised which was strong enough to be handled robotically and could be closed firmly and securely, without the need for straps. As part of this project, CLF Boxwise liaised with different suppliers, with our sales team using their invaluable knowledge to eventually create the final products, which ticked all the boxes.
Alongside this, our team have also assisted ITW Shinemark in some major redesign projects which have revolutionised and improved the company’s productivity and overall brand. ITW Shinemark has also used CLF Boxwise’s Vendor Managed Inventory system to buy a vast array of corrugated and consumable packaging products.
